Al-Qaeda: Destroy Denmark
(Arab News cartoon)
The Mohammed drawings must be revenged, a prominent member of al-Queda says in a new video. The Libyan Mohammed Hassan urges muslims to attack Denmark, Norway and France. The three countries " should be destroyed" because they allowed the Mohammed cartoons to be published: "Destroy their buildings, get the earth to tremble under them and turn it into seas of blood", he is reported as saying in Danish media tonight. Mohammed Hassan was one of the men who escaped from American imprisonment last year. He is not appearing in disguise on the video, but is dressed in a military uniform and is waving a gun. He seems to have forgotten that islam is fundamentally a peaceful religion.
The threats are taken seriously in Denmark and Norway. It is expected there'll be a terrorist attack in Copenhagen this summer. Al Queda probably only has a small following among Danish muslims, but even a few may be too many in this context.
This kind of action may damage relations between ethnic Danes and muslim immigrants again. People were forgetting about the cartoons issue, but by this provocation and crude intimidation they're reminded of it again.

It is sinister to say that every country involved in the US 'war on terror' is buzzing with talks about an Al-Qaeda bombing. Here in Canada our little Bush has warned us last week. More sinister is the fact that I don't feel that our governments are doing anything special to protect us, but I am sure that they are waiting for some political gain from an Al-Qaeda attack.
I think we ought to ask our governments what they are doing to protect us aside from destroying civil liberties in the name of the 'war on terror', a move which proved absolutely non efficient up to now...
Hi there. I enjoy your blog very much. I wish I've known about it when the incident first happened. I'm an Agnostic Jordanian (by choice) and a Muslim (by birth). I hope that you bear in mind that not all Arabs and Muslims are terrorists. It's a shame how people could take a joke so seriously. It's a shame how some cheap Muslims who are being paid by the Americans, for example Bin Laden and Hussien; tend to forge and distort the Arabs image in the West.
It's a shame that we all fight for something called religion, that's really worth it.
I hope that someday all religious and racial differences would melt down, and fuse to become one. Thank you for such a great blog.
Pheras.
Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to reading you blog. Your remarks are very relevant. Many muslims in Denmark think in the same way. They're angry that a few terrorists ruin the otherwise fairly good relations between muslim immigrants and ethnic Danes.
