The Terrorist War on Working Class Culture

Photo: M. Knudsen Monsum

So now they've started tearing down the youth house. Good riddance, all the good bourgeois people think.

"What a shameful act", people with some respect for history think.

Rosa Luxemburg has spoken in that house. Lenin has been there. This is not said to make them heroic. But nobody can deny that they're historical figures, nor that the house has historical value.

March 8th, International demonstration day for women's rights, was first proclaimed in that house. It was built for money collected among ordinary workers, to make a cultural centre for the workers' movement. The building was more than a hundred years old. It was unique.

The politicians actually had a chance to stop the demolition of the house, against the property right of the religious sect, the Father House, who owns it. It could have been declared a historical monument and rescued from demolition. But the politicians in the city council, probably because they are afraid of reactionary public opionion, opted for permitting the Father House to tear down the old, historical structure.

The politicians have opted for vandalism. The worst kind of vandalism, public vandalism. Among them are people who have criticised the communist states of the former Eastern Europe of having no sense of history, of having no sense of the aesthetics of ancient monuments. Who are those who have no sense of the aesthetics of old historical monuments? They are destroying working class culture!

The Father house bought the house for less than an ordinary family home in Copenhagen costs, and they don't want to use the building. In Denmark property rights are placed above human needs. The Father house could have been given an empty lot somewhere to build their temple of lovelessness! But no, they had to destroy what they perceive as the symbol of youthless recklessness and indulgence.

This attached article describes how workers have to disguise themselves in order not to be attacked -later on- by the young extremists. Furthermore companies who supply equipment have been threatened and attacked.

Behold Mr. Duck and his friends.
Mr Duck wants violence to trumf the rule of law. Does this also apply to other violent fractions such as nationalsocialists? In that case, could/should they be allowed to attack muslims and their property with immunity?
Should a gang of skinheads squatters be allowed take over Mr Ducks residense?

Or is this privilege only granted to left wing radicals?

No, I don't want violence. I haven' said anything about violence.

I want rule of law. That's why I find it appalling that young people are arrested and remanded in custody without due process, and why I find it disgusting that police are breaking into places and searching for member lists of the organisation (www.ru.dk) and other "incriminating material", without a warrant.

Denmark seems to be turning into a police state. And for what purpose? - to defend a very efficient business woman who has been invited by glad municipal politicians to buy a house for practically nothing, demolish it, refurbish the place, and later sell the place for what will be without doubt a handsome profit.

Exactly. Ignoring violent riots and fires is a telling sign.

"I want rule of law. That's why I find it appalling that young people are arrested and remanded in custody without due process,"

Me too. Even the many violent totaliarian Youth house users have rights ( ironically they are protected by the same rule of law that they ignore and attack in the case of Ungdomshuset )

"and other "incriminating material", without a warrant."

Actually it is - in extreme cases - within the limits of the law to do this. But I do not have a law degree and cannot say if the nessary precautions were taken.

"Denmark seems to be turning into a police state."

A cross dresser recently won a national song contest under the name "Drama Queen". You seem to emulate his name. The above claim is ridicilus. Why dont you contact experts within Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch and see if they agree with your assesment. They wont.

"to defend a very efficient business woman who has been invited by glad municipal politicians to buy a house for practically nothing, demolish it, refurbish the place, and later sell the place for what will be without doubt a handsome profit."

Sadly you have misunderstod something. Your sympathi is not nessary in order to be protected by the law. Imagine that

All the arbitrary arrests with no due process of law seem to prove my point.

Defence lawyers, for instance Sysette Vinding Kruse, claim that those put on remand have not got the right kind of legal procedure. Judges have just rubber stamped the arrest orders without due investigation of the cases. Habeas corpus rules are violated by the District Court of Copenhagen.

Who could imagine that a few mistakes can happen when the police is showered with rocks and molotov-cocktails. I am sure that you wouldnt make a single mistake if someone bombarded you with rocks at work. Nope, you would just remain queitly in front of the computer working hard on your rapport, ignoring the molotov-cocktails. But then again you are super-human. The rest of us might slip up once or twice.

A few mistakes!? we're talking of perhaps 100. That is not worthy of a society that boasts with being based on the rule of law.

Your are claiming that the number is around 100. You are not even sure of your own absurd claim. Note the word "perhaps".

"That is not worthy of a society that boasts with being based on the rule of law."

Bullshit. The young radicals have been treated with an impressive patience from the very system they attack when it dosent bestove them with what they see fit.

It is comical that they dismiss the law when it comes to Ungdomshuset and the whole "dont throw rocks and molotov-cocktails" thing. But when it comes to their percieved rights ( such as access to a full vegan diet in prison ) they bitch and moane.

Actually many of the extremists were released if it wasnt possible to have them in front of a court within 24 hours (which is within their rights) and some were released since the police couldt provide satisfactory evidence. WE ARE NOT EXACTLY TALKING ABOUT conditions that make North Korea and Belarus look good!!!!

Minor mistakes, which is what to be expected when the system is challenged by riots from totalitarian and violent stalinists.

This article documents that the situation wasnt an ordinary one and the measures taken by the curts and police were justified.

The Rule of law has never been threatened.
